. In Paris Vincent drew pictures full of light with the images of wood bunches, flowers, views of Montmartre and city suburbs. However, the city life bothered Van Gogh and in 1888, he left to Arles where his talent for painting was completely unlocked and his individual style was definitively generated.

The sun became the main character of his Arles landscapes in which the color was the chief way of expression. And the dominating color was yellow the color of the sun, ripe bread and his well-known sunflowers. Vincent van Gogh created his pictures on an inspiration impulse. He did not aspire to direct transfer of shape and size of objects, and represented it through his own experience. His color language had very emotional and symbolical sounding. In his portrait images, the artist concentrated on the inner life of a model, reproducing it with his deep individual originality. Van Gogh's portraits impress by depth of knowledge and expression of soul and thoughts of a represented person. In his pictures, even the most dramatic images are inseparably linked with the sensation of pleasure and beauty of life. Only he was able to draw such fields, such stars, such sky, and such trees.

However, physical and spiritual overstrain of difficult life led him to an aggravation of mental disease. The artist had to go to the clinic of Saint-Remy. There in intervals between attacks of illness he occupied himself with his favorite business. In the clinic, Van Gogh created really space pictures filled with love to the Earth and the Sky. His "Starry Night" shows the Earth as a planet flying in the space between spheres of stars. The artist spent last two months of his life in a small village near Paris. After one of the attacks of depression, he committed suicide.

After one of the attacks of depression, he committed suicide.

Mighty and vulnerable simultaneously, Van Gogh had lived only 37 years, only last seven from which had been devoted to painting. During his lifetime, the artist had sold only a single picture. One hundred years later, his portrait of doctor Gachet was bought at the auction in New York for 82,5 million dollars.

His creative heritage is amazing. It includes about thousands of drawings and almost equal number of pictures, which were the result of his volcanic creative eruptions when during long weeks Van Gogh drew on one or two pictures daily. His pictures embody a dramatic, full of love and suffering dialogue with himself, God and the world. The artist left behind him observations, diaries and letters. Their value is comparable to all what he had made in the world of painting. Vincent's letters to his brother Teo represent an amazing human document testifying on not only the tragic path of the artist, but also on his huge work and deep spirituality, which stood behind each picture of this person.
